We’re focusing our attention on our theology. What is it that you really believe about God? And in doing so, I’m using some biblical questions that were asked to help us answer that question.
For example, Moses said to the people of Israel is the Lord among us or not? Do we really believe that the God of the universe the Creator, is living in our myths, and aware of and a part of our lives? The question we address yesterday, the Lord spoke in the book of Isaiah, when he said, Is there a god beside me? Do we believe or in practice, have any other gods besides God?
Today, here’s another important question. It’s a question that was asked by a king who had thrown Daniel into a lion’s den. Some of you know the story. It’s in Daniel, chapter six, and Derrius came to that lion’s den The morning after Daniel had been thrown in and listen to what happened. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice onto Daniel. And the king spoke and said to Daniel, oh, Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom you serve continually able to deliver from these lions?
What a great question. Do you believe that your God is able to deliver you? It’s so easy for us to think that we can handle things ourselves. Right now in our culture, we’re facing some very scary things. And my biggest concern is that there are people that think the answer is in the medical community or in science, or in politicians. But the answer for all of these problems of health and racism that are so much a part of our concerns today, are not going to be solved by people.
Here’s the question, is your God able? I don’t know what you’re facing physically, financially, spiritually. I don’t know what’s going on in your family or your neighborhood or your workplace. But the question you need to answer today is, is your God able?
When you have that confidence, then everything else takes on a different perspective. And I believe that Daniel was able to show us that God is able. God stood up for Daniel and delivered Daniel, and the question was answered, yes, our God is able.
