The whole armor of God. That’s what the Apostle Paul calls it in Ephesians chapter six. And it’s interesting, he doesn’t want us to forget something very important, our feet.
The Bible says this in Ephesians, chapter six, and verse number 15. And as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness, given by the gospel of peace. There’s a tendency for us to maybe rush out into battle with our armor and forget, if we don’t protect our feet, we can get severely hampered.
Well, what does this mean? How do we protect our feet? Well, I think the feet represent our ability to move to go and to be mobile. And how do we do that? By having the preparation of the gospel of peace. Always be ready to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. First of all, with yourself, when you’re facing difficult times, temptation, discouragement, remember the Gospel. Jesus came to pay for your sins, to deliver us from the power of Satan. So remember, the gospel, that the risen Savior is interceding for you today. Remember the gospel.
But also, it’s important for us to understand that to really stand firm to hold our ground, we need to be always prepared to share the gospel, to tell others about Jesus. When we’re busy telling others, it does two things.
One, it reminds us of what Jesus did for us. But number two, it gives them the information they need to follow Jesus. How that he died for their sins, according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, and on the third day, he rose again. That is the gospel.
It’s interesting, God wants us to be on the go with the gospel. When Jesus gave the Greek commission, and Matthew 28, verses 18 through 20. He began by telling them he had all authority. And here’s what he said, Go ye, therefore, the first word of the commission was to go. And think about it, the first two letters of the gospel are G O. We are to be on the go in this battle for souls. Because if we’re aggressive, if we’re on the move, if we are carrying the gospel, we are going to be moving in the right direction. And instead of being on the defense, we’ll be moving forward and ready to take a stand for Jesus. So don’t forget, have your feet ready with the gospel of peace.
