In Ephesians, chapter six, verses 10 through 20, the Apostle Paul makes it very clear that we are in a spiritual warfare. And I like to approach this from two angles.

First of all, the thought of individually. Satan wants to destroy us. We’re in a warfare with him. And we are fighting. We’re fighting for our families, we’re fighting for our security, we’re fighting for our health. This is a battle. It’s ongoing.

And then also I like to apply it as a church. Because the real battle in this world is not fixing the world’s problems. This world’s always going to have problems. But we need to do is take care of the spiritual issues. That’s what needs to be the main focus of the church and everything else that we do revolve around that. Yes, it’s true. We need to help the poor, we need to feed the hungry and provide water to those who need water. We need to fight and stop And against racial injustice. There’s much that we need to do to help this world to be a better place. But all of that is so that we can point people to Jesus Christ.

It’s a spiritual warfare. And so listen to what Paul says in Ephesians, chapter six, verse number 12. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I read that, it sounds pretty mysterious. Who are these forces? What are they doing? How do they interact with our lives? And I don’t believe we really can have conclusive answers to those questions, but we do know they exist.

And so remember, that are you trying to navigate the seas of this world? Keep in mind that when you seem to be having opposition from people, it’s not really them. They’re not the real problem. It’s not the outward physical things that we see. It’s not the human beings that we are fighting against. Our real warfare, Paul says, is a spiritual warfare. That’s what underlies all this. It underlies our national problems, our church problems, our family problems, our cultural problems.

And so keep in mind, this is a spiritual warfare. And that’s why as we unfold this in the days ahead, having the right equipment is going to make all the difference in the world.
