We serve a great God. And it should be our desire to see God do some great things. And if we follow him, I believe that he will. So let’s take a look at the early church and see how God brought greatness into their lives.
First of all, it says in Acts, chapter six, verse eight, and Steven, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. I believe in miracles. I believe that if we’re a church of people who are praying, God is going to do some great things in our midst, we need to be asking God and expecting from God two great things that are beyond our ability. Why? So that God will be honored so that his name will be glorified.
And then I want you to notice also in the book of Acts, chapter 15, it says this in verse number three. So being sent on their way by the church, they pass through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and brought great joy to all the brothers.
I believe that God wants us to be a joyful people, there should be great joy in our lives. One of the things that we always celebrate at The Bridge Church is change lives. As Paul and Barnabas reported to the church in Jerusalem, how God was changing lives in the Gentile areas, it brought them great joy. And I do want to encourage all of us to be a joyful people. Because again, when God is working in our lives in miraculous ways, and when people see the joy of the Lord in us, then we can have an impact on their lives.
And that brings me to the last thought for today. And that’s in Acts chapter 11, verse 21, and the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number, who believed, turn to the Lord, a great number, turn to the Lord.
Now, our goal is not to have a big church, but our desire is to see a great number of people turn to the Lord. So let’s work toward that goal. Let’s be busy doing the things that are going to help us spread the gospel and reach people for Jesus Christ.
Remember this, while numbers are not our goal, every number has a name, and we need to be reaching people with the message and the love of Jesus Christ our Savior.
