Back in 1927, an organization was incorporated in the United States called the four H club. It was an organization for young people. Basically, in agricultural communities to emphasize four important qualities, those qualities were and I’ll read them to you. Head, heart, hands, and health. And they felt that each of these were important.
Well, I’d like to spend the next four days in form if we could our own for each club, but I want to give you four different H’s. And today let me talk about the first one. The first Ah, in our club, is humility. The Bible tells us in the book of James chapter four, verse six, God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. Then down in James, chapter four, verse 10, the Bible says, humble yourselves, therefore, before the Lord, and He will exalt you.
So we see in this passage very clearly, that God wants us to be humble before him to realize that he is God, that He knows what’s right, that he is sovereign over all things. And we, as followers of Jesus Christ should be a humble people.
And notice how it impacts our relationship with the Lord. He gives grace to those who are humble. He sees us in our weakness, and when we come to him with humility, he will give us grace.
And also he tells us this, that he will exalt us in due time. And the idea is this, that when we humble ourselves to God when we serve Him, commit our life to Him, He will reward us at the right time. And also you melodies important our relationship with people.
The Bible says in Ephesians, chapter four, one through three, I, therefore a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling, to which you have been called, with all humility, gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace.
As we interact with others in our church, in our families in our workplace. spirit of humility will go a long way. So H-1, let’s apply it to our lives is to be a humble person.
